Cattle buying, selling and finishing | Grupo Fonsa

We move cattle through every stage, from the moment they leave the farm where they were born to the final finishing period before the abattoir.

Grupo Fonsa is built around two main activities, run independently but closely connected: cattle trading and calf finishing.

From our facilities across Galicia (provinces of Lugo and A Coruña) and Asturias, we offer a wide range of services: trading in cattle of all types, transport, logistics, documentation management and advice for suppliers and buyers. We also have extensive infrastructure for cattle rearing and finishing, with capacity for more than 1,800 head.

Running both sides of the business under one roof means we can buy, sort, finish and sell cattle without relying on third parties at any stage — something few companies in northern Spain can do.

Ganados Fonsa. Buying and selling calves

At our facilities in A Terra Chá (Lugo) we handle four types of cattle — unweaned calves, store cattle, finishing cattle and cows — each with its own day of the week. Working this way keeps our arrangements with suppliers steady, lets us keep track of available stock and lets us agree weekly sales volumes with our customers.

At Ganados Fonsa we buy and sell cattle, handle inbound and outbound transport, manage the paperwork and keep individual records for every animal that arrives at our facilities. That is how we guarantee traceability for each animal from arrival to departure.

Cebo Fonsa. Pre-finishing and finishing at our own units

Finishing calves until they leave for the abattoir accounts for most of what Cebo Fonsa does.

This side of the business also includes pre-finishing: we prepare the customer's animals before they enter the finishing cycle, following a strict health protocol coordinated by our veterinary team. This gives preventive cover during one of the most delicate stages in an animal's life.

From our facilities in Rábade (Lugo) we distribute animals among our other finishing units according to their size and characteristics and the conditions at each unit, so that every animal ends up in the setting that suits it best.

More than 40 years committed to the industry

For more than 40 years, Grupo Fonsa has been deeply committed to the industry, to animal care and welfare, and to building solid relationships with our suppliers and customers. It shows in the work of our teams and in the confidence of those who trust us with their cattle every day.
